Purpose of the role:
As a Business Owner Climate Change you are responsible that Pharming can adhere, as part of our dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, to global guidelines/directives (e.g. Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Single Reporting Format (ESRF) and SEC) to ensure transparency and accountability in our ESG disclosures.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement ESG Climate Change Strategies: Lead the development of robust strategies to mitigate climate change impacts across all aspects of our business operations, by driving change and implementing innovative solutions to reduce the business’ carbon footprint.
  • Policy Development: Formulate and implement policies that align with global best practices and regulatory requirements, ensuring our company operates in accordance with the highest environmental standards by championing and fostering a culture of sustainability and accountability.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee the collection and analysis of relevant data related to greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and other key metrics to assess our environmental footprint accurately ensuring a solid basis for target setting.
  • Set Targets and Metrics: Establish ambitious yet achievable targets and performance metrics to track progress towards reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and other climate-related goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, investors, customers, and regulatory bodies, to promote transparency and accountability in our climate change initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess climate-related risks and opportunities, integrating these considerations into our overall business strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Stay Informed on Climate Science and Policy: Stay abreast of the latest developments in climate science, environmental regulations, and industry trends to ensure our company remains at the forefront of climate change mitigation efforts.

 

Your profile:

  • Proven experience (3 years) in a similar role, with a track record of successfully developing and implementing ESG climate change strategies within a corporate setting, with knowledge of CSRD and ESRS E1 compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Deep understanding of carbon footprinting via the Greenhouse protocol and setting targets via the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI) .
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Risk management skills (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights, while adhering to CSRD and ESRS E1 standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with CSRD and ESRS E1 reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams towards common sustainability goals, while meeting CSRD and ESRS E1 guidelines.
