Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the CBO, a member of the Executive Committee, the Global Head Business Development and Alliance Management will be a member of the CBO Leadership Team. S/he will spearhead all Business Development & Licensing activities and lead, manage and develop a team of experienced BD&L professionals who:

 

  • Together with Preclinical Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and Commercial Strategy develop and enhance the ambitious strategy for external innovation for Pharming Group N.V.
  • Ensures effective integration of assets and oversees Alliance Management activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust BD strategy which fits with current pipeline/portfolio needs.
  • Support the BD&L team in identifying opportunities and make a compelling case for these internally. 
  • Leads all BD activities at Pharming. 
  • Oversees all Alliance Management activities
  • Support M&A work through close coordination with Finance, Legal and Compliance.
  • Efficient and impactful communication to internal stakeholders.
  • Establish his/her position within the CBO leadership team through collaboration and engagement.
  • Leadership of the BD&L team which translates into:
    • Aligned focus of BD&L activities with company strategy
    • Robust deal pipeline
    • Staying abreast of competition
    • Identifying high quality opportunities consistent with Pharming needs, in a timely fashion
  • Assessment of opportunities through collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Sound recommendations regarding specific transactions
  • Effective navigation through internal processes and towards clear decisions
  • Successful and smooth implementation of collaborations and alliance
  • Act as the single point of contact for the organization in all matters concerning BD&L

 

Your Profile

  • Solid scientific knowledge in Rare Disease therapeutic areas of interest (immunology, non-oncology hematology, respiratory)
  • Ability to communicate with high impact with Executive Committee
  • Ability to translate science into commercial value and to challenge business cases
  • Ability to present to and obtain endorsement by senior management on complex projects through evidence-based communication and an ability to read with audience and be effective in challenging discussions 
  • Credible deal experience or strong track record of involvement in BD&L evaluation activities or innovative product development 
  • Delivery mindset, strong external network in biopharmaceutical community
  • Leads by influence
  • Strong leadership skills – people focus 
  • Ability to quickly build relationships internally
  • Ability to handle high workload 
  • Resilience 
  • PhD / MD preferred, ideally combined with MBA
