Purpose of the role:
The HR Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, supporting the organization in all HR-related matters. The role combines strategic alignment with hands-on execution in areas such as employee relations, performance management, and organizational development. The HR Business Partner ensures that HR policies and processes are applied consistently, while also contributing to the creation of a positive and compliant work environment.

 

Areas of responsibilities: 

  • Act as a sparring partner for managers and employees on all HR-related topics.
  • Support the business in organizational development, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Provide guidance in case of workplace conflicts, absence management, and performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch labor law and internal HR policies.
  • Drive and coordinate HR processes (performance cycle, talent reviews, employee relations cases).
  • Collaborate closely with the HR Operations team to ensure accurate and timely execution of HR processes.
  • Support the implementation of HR projects and change initiatives.

Functional Knowledge & Experience
:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role in the Netherlands.
  • In-depth knowledge of Dutch labor law, including case handling related to conflicts, performance issues, and terminations.
  • Knowledge of absence management, Dutch health & safety (Arbo), and Wet verbetering poortwachter requirements.
  • Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written) and professional proficiency in English.
  • Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week in Leiden.
  • Experience in working in an international and fast-paced environment is an advantage.
  • Act with a strong sense of urgency, agility, and flexibility.
  • Strong networking skills to establish relationships with key stakeholders
