Purpose of the Role
The Head of Global Supply Chain provides strategic leadership and operational direction for the organization’s end-to-end supply chain. This role includes demand and supply planning, logistics, order fulfillment, master data governance, and close cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, CMC, Development Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance teams. Operating within a highly outsourced pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution model, the Head of Global Supply Chain ensures uninterrupted global supply, cost-effective operations, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, this role drives supply chain excellence to support the company’s growth and mission.
Areas of Responsibility:
Strategy and Execution:
- Lead the global supply chain strategy, ensuring alignment with the company. strategy/product plans, corporate objectives and regional market needs.
- Lead Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
- Ensure robust supply planning and inventory management execution across CMO’s, CLO’s, and regional warehouses.
- Drive continuous improvement, digital enablement, and risk mitigation across the supply chain.
- Represent the Global Supply Chain team in strategic initiatives and executive forums.
- Review MSA’s and sign off on QA’s with 3PL’s/4PL’s and distributors.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and global regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, MHRA, PMDA, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all applicable work and environmental safety standards (according to Dutch law and regulations), responsible for regular checks on safety and act where needed, support RI&E (risk assessments and evaluation).
- Ensure compliance with environmental sustainability standards (e.g. Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation).
People:
- Manage and develop a high-performing GCS team.
- Ensure that the right, qualified resources are available to support the future growth of the company (strategic workforce planning).
- Foster individual and team development through coaching, mentoring and development and succession planning.
- Ensure that the team stays updated on industry trends, emerging regulatory requirements, and technological advancements in relevant fields and empower innovation and creativity.
Performance:
- Define, track and analyze performance metrics; set goals, foster Pharming’s biotech culture and implement (organizational) changes to achieve efficient deployment of strategy.
- Prepare budget together with the CMC Teams, CT Teams and peer managers and ensure that activities are executed aligned with approved budget and timelines.

Functional knowledge & experience:
Knowledge:
- Master’s degree in supply chain management, Business or related field.
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other quality management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (EMA, FDA, ICH).
- APICS certification preferred.
- Project Management certification/Lean certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, planning tools, and regulatory requirements (e.g. import, export requirements, tariffs).
Experience:
- > 12 years of progressive experience in global supply chain roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- > 5 years of managerial experience.
- Proven leadership in outsourced manufacturing and logistics environments.
- Experience in leading IBP and S&OP processes.
- Experience working in a matrix organization and building a global supply chain organization.
